Michael P. Karr earned an Associate in Arts Degree from Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, California in 1980.  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in U.S. History from the University of California at Davis in 1983.  He received his Juris Doctor Degree from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California in 1988. 

Michael was admitted to the California State Bar in 1988 and to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California in 1988 as well.  Michael joined the American Immigration Lawyers Association in 1993.  He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1995.

Michael has been practicing in the field of Immigration and Nationality Law since February 1991.  He has represented clients before the Immigration Courts in Arizona, Washington State, Nevada and Guam while primarily focusing on California Courts and San Francisco in particular.  He continues to represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service  (USCIS) offices throughout the western U.S. 

Michael’s appeal work on naturalization, family, employment and removal cases has included the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Unit of the USCIS, The Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the US District Court for the Eastern District of California. 

Immigration matters Michael has handled include family and work based visa petitions, asylum, removal/deportation defense, immigration bond proceedings, waivers of inadmissibility and removability, Temporary Protected Status, U and V visas, consular processing, battered spouse and child petitions and consultations on the immigration consequences of criminal convictions.
